EDF Energy has an exciting opening for a Mechanical Assurance Lead in Utilities at Hinkley Point C.


We are offering the chance to be a part of the largest infrastructure project in Europe now and for the foreseeable future, working in a dynamic and fast-paced Site Operations environment.


Site Operations is a stand-alone Multi-Disciplinary Team [MDT], that brings together Logistical and Business Support functions that due to the scope and complexity of the services it provides must fully integrate with all contractors and all other site based MDT’s and all Associated Developments.  It must remain cognisant of the drive to engage with the local supply chain, and remain aligned with Pre-Construction Planning strategy and philosophy.


Day to day you will:


  • Assure the Hinkley Point C site and Associated Developments utilities meet defined technical standards.
  • Act as a Mechanical discipline, (including Water, sewage, pressurised systems), Subject Matter Expert.
  • Set various technical standards for the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mechanical utilities.
  • Monitor adherence to the defined technical standards.
  • Provide compelling advice in Mechanical areas, (including Water, Sewage etc).
  • Assess and appoint Persons under the NNB Safety Rules.
The Person


As a Mechanical Assurance Lead you will work within the Site Operations Team and gradually build up in the role.


You will have strong time management skills, the ability to prioritise workload, and excellent communication skills.


As a Mechanical subject matter expert in the area of Utilities you will ensure technical standards are in place and are being met to a high level. Where needed you will create new technical standards using your knowledge of best practice and relevant regulations.

The Skills



  • Knowledge of appropriate Regulations and Codes of Practice including Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations, Water Industry Act 1991, Water Act 2014, Civil Engineering Specification for the Water Industry etc
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including HASAWA, CDM
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification




  • Membership of relevant Professional body preferable (e.g. IMechE)
