Do you balance empathy with assertiveness to foster strong relationships while driving process improvements?

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering a large scope of design for buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project.

As a JDO Disciplines Manager, you are leading a multidisciplinary team, overseeing workflows, resource allocation, and project delivery. You are responsible for risk management, compliance, fostering innovation, mentoring, stakeholder engagement, strategic alignment, performance monitoring, and reporting.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary of around £100,000 per annum and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

As a JDO Disciplines Manager, you will oversee the highest position of EPR-E within the Joint Design Office (JDO), managing EPR-E staff. You will lead the various JDO Discipline Leads and report to the Head of the Site Support Team. You will be accountable for the operational performance of the “Responsible Designer” (RD) roles within the JDO, including technical areas, and ensure staffing aligns with long-term needs identified by JDO Area Managers. You will also represent EPR-E. In addition, you will ensure that Site Engineering and Construction OPEX is formalised and distributed across EDF projects, while ensuring that conditions are met to maintain RD guarantees on the design after modification by the JDO. As the technical integrator, you will oversee the integration of the NI design once it is transferred to the JDO.

Who you are

As a JDO Disciplines Manager, you will demonstrate leadership in complex projects and maintain a strong, delivery-focused approach. You will hold a science or engineering degree, or an equivalent qualification. You should have knowledge of EPR engineering processes and at least five years of experience working on construction sites. Additionally, you will have experience in nuclear engineering and new nuclear build projects, with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in design and design management across various disciplines, such as civils, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC. You will possess strong English communication skills; knowledge of French is desirable. You will be able to lead large teams in complex environments.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
