The Opportunity

 

This role involves leading the delivery and implementation of internal communications initiatives, with a focus on developing and executing strategies for highly complex, sensitive, and project-wide activities. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective communication with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, managing initiatives with a significant impact across the project.

 

As part of a dynamic team, you’ll handle multiple activities simultaneously, adapting flexibly to shifting demands. You may also be required to respond to on-site issues or media crises, demonstrating agility and resilience in emergency situations. Regularly engaging with executive-level management, you will represent the communications function both independently and as part of collaborative project teams.

What you will be doing…

 

Drive the development and execution of an MEH Alliance-wide internal communications strategy, assessing current methods, benchmarking against best practices, and proposing impactful improvements for both on-site and off-site locations. Take the lead in implementing innovative channels to effectively engage the blue-collar and shift-based workforce. Establish robust measurement, evaluation, and feedback processes to ensure internal communications are impactful and continuously evolving. Craft and oversee the creation of high-quality, tailored written and digital content designed to resonate with diverse audiences.

 

Additional roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Champion the successes of the MEH Programme by highlighting achievements through MEH communication channels and collaborating with the wider HPC Comms team to amplify reach where appropriate.
  • Provide strategic advice on internal communications to MEH leadership teams, ensuring effective engagement, consistency, and adoption of best practices across the programme.
  • Create, develop, and manage internal communication channels across MEH, ensuring clear, consistent messaging is maintained throughout.
  • Lead the development of evaluation, measurement, and employee feedback processes to continuously improve the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and activities.
  • Take ownership of crisis communication planning for the MEH communications team, ensuring readiness and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with the wider HPC Comms team to implement project-wide policies and campaigns effectively within MEH.
  • Manage and develop internal communications team members, setting clear objectives and enhancing their skills.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for key meetings, including Site Project Reviews, PRMs, and other stakeholder engagements

 

Who you are…

 

To succeed in this role, you'll bring strong experience in crafting written communication materials, plans, and briefing notes for senior executives, along with the confidence to verbally brief senior stakeholders when needed. You’ll have a proven track record of preparing impactful communication plans and materials, including engaging frontline or blue-collar staff. Your ability to manage and lead a team will be complemented by a clear understanding of audience segmentation, enabling you to tailor messages and select the most effective communication channels for different stakeholder groups.
