Are you an experienced HVAC Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have a background in HVAC systems with expertise in nuclear projects? Are you skilled in using 2D and 3D design software and have experience of layout analysis? If so, come and join EDF as a HVAC Engineer!

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As an HVAC Engineer, you are responsible for assessing technical impacts, coordinating efforts, producing, and monitoring studies related to HVAC systems.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary of £52,000 to £62,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

What you’ll be doing

You will assess site requests that may impact the HVAC discipline by gathering all necessary inputs, evaluating and documenting the impacts on HVAC systems, layout design, and other contractors. The role involves providing technical assessments and solutions with supporting justification, including aeraulic and anchor plate calculations, system analyses, and ensuring interfaces align. Additionally, you’ll guarantee the design intent is maintained and update deliverables produced by the RD Back-Office as needed. Liaising with various teams.

Ownership of managing site requests includes initiating dedicated change processes, conducting surveillance on execution designer deliverables, and drafting Contract Transfer Sheets (CTS) when necessary. Regular reporting to the HVAC Discipline Lead will involve updating achievements, progress, challenges, and raising alerts on any identified design issues. You’ll also contribute to closing open design points after HVAC design packages are delivered to the site, proactively addressing open technical points to ensure continuous improvement.

As part of the JDO-DT HVAC team, you will collect and organise lessons learned, participate in team meetings, and share technical insights. Managing and monitoring modifications requested by engineering teams, contractors, and clients will be key, along with regularly conducting system engineering reviews with all involved parties to ensure alignment and consistency throughout the project.

Who you are

You’ll hold a degree and have experience in HVAC, including work on nuclear projects like EPR. You’ll be skilled in using 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, Navisworks) and have experience with 3D model visualisation for layout analysis.

You’ll have a strong understanding of HVAC systems and layout rules for nuclear projects, as well as knowledge of nuclear power station operations and associated safety aspects like nuclear safety, flooding, fire, and radiological protection.

We’re seeking someone who can apply these technical skills in a regulated nuclear environment while collaborating effectively with stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient HVAC solutions.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

Closing date for applications: 6th February 2025.
