The Opportunity

 

The ‘Direction Industrielle’ (DI – Industrial Directorate) of DIPNN is responsible on behalf of EDF for the surveillance of equipment manufacturing for Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) EPR projects, to ensure that the manufacturing from the suppliers is fulfilled with the expected level of quality, in accordance with the specified requirements.

 

DI is also part of the Responsible Designer (RD) for HPC project, alongside with EDVANCE and CNEPE. DI in the UK, and its dedicated Manufacturing Control team, aim to provide adequate and reactive engineering and in-shop surveillance for manufacturing activities in the UK for these projects. Within its scope of delegated authority, UKMC also provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical manufacturing issues arising on equipment delivery.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute into this important project as an Equipment Engineer.  We are currently looking to recruit someone who has the relevant experience, qualifications as well as willingness to learn more about Nuclear industry. The Role

 
As an Equipment Engineer your main accountabilities and responsibilities will be to oversee and manage the day to day all of the manufacturing technical issues, on the scope of all UK suppliers for HPC and SZC projects, meaning that you will be:

 

•    Accountable for the production of the Surveillance Offers related to the contracts for which DI/UKMC has been mandated by HPC to perform these activities.
•    Responsible of the production of the documentation surveillance plan (as part of the Surveillance Offer).
•    In charge of performing the technical review and acceptance of the following documents issued by the Suppliers:
o    the manufacturing documents required from the customer (documentation review)
o    the manufacturing Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
o    the exemption requests
These activities lead to an official technical position that is produced by the Equipment Engineer.
•    Overseeing of the production of Clearance Notes (which purpose are to report to HPC/NNB whether the surveillance and inspections carried out on the components and equipment are in accordance with their associated Surveillance Offers and highlights the gaps if any).
•    Responsible of the capitalization of OPEX regarding manufacturing issues.
•    Contributing to the production of contractual technical requirements for manufacturing operations
•    Producing the surveillance programmes in the dedicated DI tools
•    Taking part in manufacturing kick-off meetings (with DI inspector(s))
 

The Skills

 

Essential

 

•    Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline (Chartered engineer, MSc or equivalent)
•    Recognized advanced welding diploma/certificate (at least International Welding Engineer or equivalent)
•    Languages: intermediate level at least (B1 and above in the CEFR) French 
•    Knowledge of regulations, codes and standards related to the manufacturing of steel components (and preferably in the nuclear industry)
•    Experience in documentation review/check for manufacturing of mechanical equipment
•    Good self-organization of work and the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously
•    Good writing skills 
•    Ability to manage the interactions with a multi-disciplinary team 
•    Committed to deliver to quality and schedule
•    Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment
•    Ability to remain focused under pressure, thinking clearly and objectively

 

Desirable

 

•    Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing
•    Knowledge of nuclear safety requirements
•    Knowledge of HPC project
