Electrical Engineer

2 days a week in Satellite Delivery Centre (Bridgwater) and 2 days a week in Aztec West (Bristol).

Are you an Electrical Engineer early in your career and looking for a new opportunity? Are you open-minded, curious and with great communication skills? Are you looking for a role on an exciting project, where you can really make a difference?

If so, we have the role for you!

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two new nuclear reactors, marking the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Once operational, these reactors will provide low-carbon electricity to power around six million homes.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our MEH Programme and report to the MEH Engineering Manager (EM) through the Technical Lead.

You will be responsible for overseeing and resolving technical issues during the engineering phase and throughout the project, your main focus is to ensure the scope of work and engineering process are clearly defined, resolving technical questions and addressing risks to the project plan.

You will work closely with the EM and Technical Lead to find solutions that are in the best interest of the project and will collaborate with the Technical Lead for Nuclear Services (NS) when the HPC Safety Case is affected, ensuring technical documents are accepted and aligned with project needs.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary from £40,000 (negotiable depending on experience), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

You will support the Technical Lead in delivering key project duties, initially focusing on the HVAC systems. Your role includes helping with the design process, participating in important project reviews, and identifying risks or issues that could affect the project’s progress.

You'll also help resolve data issues, ensure the correct integration of the HVAC design, and provide important information like equipment input/output lists and cable lists. Additionally, you will assist with technical reviews, ensuring that design diagrams and supplier documents are consistent and meet project requirements.

The role will involve regular interaction with Responsible Designers, Execution Designers, Fabricators/Manufacturers, the Technical Client Organization (TCO), MEH Construction, and the Joint Design Office (JDO) on site to ensure smooth project coordination and delivery.

Who you are

You hold a degree in electrical engineering or have equivalent experience and have worked in complex, dynamic environments where safety, security, and environmental responsibility are paramount. You are skilled at managing and influencing stakeholders, resolving issues, and facilitating productive outcomes.

Your strong communication, presentation, and organisational skills allow you to build relationships and maintain effective networks. You have a meticulous approach to engineering, always striving for high professional standards. You can work independently, delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget, while recognising when to seek support.

Experience with PWR/EPR design and construction is an advantage.

Closing date for applications: 17th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
