Electrical Commissioning Technicians

Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater.

Are you a Qualified Electrical Technician looking for a new opportunity? Do you want to shape the next generation of Nuclear Power Stations in the UK? Above all are you passionate about helping Britain achieve #NetZeroTogether?

If so – we have a role for you!

The Opportunity…

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we’re building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

We’re seeking Electrical Commissioning Technicians to join our expanding team and play a pivotal part in bringing the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation, into operation.

Working in small teams, you will perform a variety of commissioning tests on electrical systems, emphasising both nuclear and conventional safety protocols. This will require teamwork, an eye for detail, adherence to established test procedures, and a willingness to challenge any unsafe practices.

This is your chance to drive your own career development while working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team delivering commissioning activities on one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF.

Join us as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear power in the UK.

Pay, benefits and culture…

Alongside a starting salary circa £45,000, the opportunity for a 5% annual performance bonus and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing…

In your role, you will work with Commissioning Engineers to ensure successful test execution, and support Test Team Leader’s in delivering commissioning tests to plan. You will help with the execution of testing activities, including working with other disciplines where required, as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Reporting into the Senior Technician, you will ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to site license requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures, and safety rules.

Who you are…

We’re looking for time-served, trade apprentices, educated to NVQ / Level 3 / ONC level (or equivalent experience) in an Electrical Engineering subject.

You should have:

  • Experience in commissioning, return-to-service, or operational testing in regulated, high-hazard industries like power generation or oil & gas.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems (e.g. LV and/or HV switchgear, inverters, and UPS systems).
  • A strong focus on Nuclear Safety and Zero Harm.
  • Positive attitude and an ability to be organised and self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams.

If any of the above sounds like you – we want to hear from you!

Closing Date: 9th February 2025

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
