What you’ll be doing
You will oversee a team of 10-20 commissioning engineers responsible for the safe and effective testing and commissioning of systems at the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power station. Your role will evolve as the project advances, involving contributions to defining commissioning processes and supporting the recruitment, training, and development of qualified personnel. Once on-site, you will lead your team in executing commissioning tests to confirm the readiness of HPC units for safe commercial operation. Reporting to a Senior Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in managing project delivery, ensuring targets are achieved, and progress is reported in alignment with project requirements.
For the electrical division, you will oversee the commissioning of low-voltage systems, including essential 24V power supplies, large battery installations, power transformers, and protection systems. While your primary focus will be on systems below 1,000V, you will collaborate closely with the high-voltage manager to support the commissioning of power transmission systems (400kV) and emergency diesel generators (690V and 10kV).
For the Nuclear Island Division, you will lead the commissioning of the Nuclear Steam Supply Systems (NSSS) and oversee Integrated Systems Testing (IST). This role entails managing commissioning activities across both the NSSS and IST teams, ensuring close collaboration with the BNI and Rad Waste commissioning manager to maintain seamless coordination and alignment across these critical functions.
Who you are
You will have a technical engineering background in a relevant engineering discipline and experience of leading others in a programme-driven environment.
You will have the ability to recognise, coach and develop the skills of others, creating an environment of safety, autonomy and trust in a diverse team. You will have a delivery mindset, be able to get results and influence both internally and externally.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 5th February 2025
