The opportunity


This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be our Blyth Offshore Site Manager where you’ll plan, lead and coordinate all the operation and maintenance activities within the assigned offshore wind farm, which includes responsibility for the performance and health and safety targets of the assets- to cover turbines, onshore and offshore electrical equipment, foundations, cables and seabed.

What you’ll be doing


One of the main challenges the role faces is that it must manage activities in an unpredictable and sometimes hostile environment ensuring all performance and health and safety targets are achieved in addition to;
 

  • Maintain the highest levels of safety to comply with all health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Company Code of Ethics.
  • Work with the Environment and Consents team to deliver effective environmental management including prevention of spills and waste management.
  • Develop and manage site process and procedures (including Emergency Response Plans) working with others in the Asset Operations Team
  • Lead and coordinate all operation and maintenance activities at the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator 1in line with the strategy, company policies and procedures and Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) specifications.
  • Manage the operational interface with the WTG OEM and technical management of the WTG Service Agreement
  • Ensure a maintenance plan is in place for Blyth 1 and the future planned site at Blyth 2 covering turbines, onshore and offshore electrical equipment, foundations, cables and seabed and the O&M Facilities at Port of Blyth
  • Monitor and challenge operational performance to support revenue optimisation Ensure the Availability Warranty and Guarantee is managed and records are kept of agreed performance. Administer any claims and bonus payments with support from the Commercial and Performance Teams
  • Provide first level technical support to in-progress interventions on the wind farm Balance of Plant and organise / participate in them as required (field support, special operations, etc.).
  • Manage the logistics of the area (tools, vehicles, Vessels, stock, equipment, etc.).
  • Manage and plan transversal operations (operational communications, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, major component changes, HV Safety Rules onshore & offshore, Balance of plant SSOW etc.).
  • Manage the Blyth OPEX budget and prepare submissions as part of the business planning process • Participate in the creation of an effective operational dynamic within the Blyth team (including Vestas and shareholder representatives)

 

What do you need to be great at this role?


You’ll be an enthusiastic, safety minded person with a qualification in electrical and/or mechanical engineering to at least HNC level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience) and excellent interpersonal/stakeholder management skills.

 

  • Strong experience in the operation and maintenance of wind turbines.
  • Experience of managing Wind Turbine OEM contracts
  • Accreditation or previous accreditation as an Authorising Technician (AT) / Authorising Engineer (AE) under WTSR )or willingness to work towards this.
  • Proven wind operations and maintenance management experience including knowledge of Balance of Plant and High Voltage networks/equipment.
  • Strong experience of managing risks and the challenges of working in a wind turbine environment.
  • Proven leader successful in delivering projects, establishing / managing relationships, and securing / maintaining a safe environment for all operations.
  • Experience of working at height and in adverse weather conditions with no limitations to transferring or working offshore.
  • Excellent knowledge in the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and in industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements for optimising the performance of a wind farm, and of the key parameters for developing an effective lifecycle strategic model.
  • Full Drivers Licence.
