Health, Safety and Security careers at EDF

At EDF we believe all harm is preventable. Our Zero Harm ambition leads to making sure our workplaces are safe and healthy for everyone: our employees, anyone working on our behalf and visitors.

Becoming part of our team

Health and Safety teams

We’re looking for people who will put our Zero Harm ambition first.  To join our teams you’ll demonstrate a knowledge of HSE legislations, have relevant qualifications or experience, and an appreciation of the regulatory requirements in the energy industry.

Security teams

Working on a shift pattern at our power stations, our Security teams are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the site security plans and meeting regulatory requirements.

Guards are often the first point of contact with visitors and we look for people with a customer-focused attitude; who are articulate, well-mannered and able to communicate in a tactful and discrete manner, with an understanding of the need for confidentiality.

Rewards and benefits

In addition to a competitive salary, generous holiday allowance and annual company bonus when targets are met, we offer our employees a flexible benefits package that lets them select the benefits that best suit their lifestyle. Below are some of the benefits to choose from.

  • Holiday trading
  • Payroll giving
  • Dining cards
  • Travel insurance
  • Private healthcare insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Healthcare cash plan

Training

Keeping your skills up to date is essential, and so EDF offers continuous opportunities to develop. In addition to the standard EDF induction training, there are also opportunities to take on additional duties in addition to your standard role. Qualifications are open to everyone and it’s up to you to decide how much you’d like to take on and how far you want to go in your role.

Locations

The Health, Safety and Security teams are based at various locations, from our offices to our power stations.

Central Function insights

We employ over 12,000 people in the UK and have a very diverse, multidisciplinary workforce. As we both produce AND supply energy, unlike other energy suppliers we are able to provide more varied opportunities for professionals interested in ‘central functions’.

This video shows three of our employees sharing their experiences in their day to day roles, their professional development and a career they can feel good about.
