Research & Development Industrial Placement

Our UK based Research & Development centre is currently advancing research in the fields of Low Carbon Generation, Modelling and Simulation, Environment and Natural Hazards, Energy System Design, Smart Cities, Local Energy Systems, Energy Storage & Efficiency and Smart Digital Technologies. 

By coupling the advances in science and engineering with the emergence of new digital innovations EDF Energy’s R&D team is providing ground breaking solutions to policy makers, partners and customers in order to realise our vision.

What we're looking for

• On track to achieve a 2:1 undergraduate or 2:2 postgraduate Science, Engineering, IT, Digital Design  or related degree

• A professional outlook and commercial awareness 

• Motivation, initiative and good people skills 

• Technical and analytical skills 

• A desire to learn and develop skills

• Willingness to relocate as required

Overview

The EDF Energy R&D UK centre, a fully owned subsidiary of EDF Energy, is an integral part of the EDF Group R&D international network.  The strategy of the centre is to lead research and development for EDF Energy, creating value, preparing for future challenges and unlocking opportunities for the business.  

Depending on your discipline, you may get the opportunity to work in Modelling and Simulation, Natural Hazards or the Digital Innovation Team.

Training

Most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. Some industrial placements come with opportunities for further technical training as needed.
