What we're looking for

• You'll be studying an IT related degree

• You’ll be on track to for a 2:1 undergraduate or 2:2 postgraduate degree

• You’ll have technical, analytical and communication skills

• Lots of initiative, business instincts and good people skills

• Desire to learn and develop your abilities

Overview

This placement is based in our Barnwood office in Gloucestershire.  You'll be part of the Information Systems department in the Generation Business Unit of EDF Energy. During your time on the scheme, you’ll gain experience of working in an engineering-focussed electricity generation business and in particular gain a good working knowledge of how IT solutions are designed and architected.

You’ll be working within a busy project focussed organisation which delivers IT solutions to several thousand users. The department manages, co-ordinates and assures the work that is done to ensure that projects are successfully delivered to time, cost and quality.

The placement will involve activities around the initial development of technology innovations and you’ll be working alongside Solution Architects to assist in the production of working prototypes, demonstrations and proofs of concept.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to apply within a similar IT role across a wide number of industries or functions after graduation.

Training

Most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. Some industrial placements come with opportunities for further technical training as needed.
