Our 3-year Chemistry Apprenticeship offers a balance of practical training, distance learning and on-the-job coaching. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll be a fully qualified Chemistry Technician with both a HNC qualification and hands-on experience at EDF. You’ll be in the best possible position to continue your career, and to go on to become a Chemistry Engineer of the future.

What we’re looking for
Educated to A level standard (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a similar subject
At least 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Grade C or above in Maths and English
A genuine interest in furthering your education and committed to seeing it through
Good analytical and practical skills
A genuine awareness and appreciation of the size and scale of a power station

Overview
As a Chemistry Trainee, you’ll be participating in a 2-3 year course operated by a University or College that EDF have partnered with. This will be on the basis of distance-learning, therefore you’ll need to be disciplined to complete self-study. We’ll offer you lots of support, including a buddy who has also been through this programmed study route.
The Chemistry Team at Torness power station are responsible for chemical safety and chemical control, both essential to the safe and successful operation of the power station. During your training scheme you’ll learn from real industry experts and enjoy mentorship from a fully-fledged Chemistry Engineer to help you on your way.
Where you'll be based
This Apprenticeship sits within the Chemistry Team (Operations department) at Torness power station in Dunbar, East Lothian in Scotland.
