Power Apps Software Developer

The opportunity 

 

As the Power Apps Developer, it will be your role to ensure application-based services for Nuclear Operations are supported and maintained in line with business need and technology changes.  

 

We primarily require individuals with experience in development of Power Apps and SharePoint online with the skills to work in a team. Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, ALM Accelerator and Oracle APEX would also be favourable.

 

The post holder will support and develop Power Apps and SharePoint Online applications maintaining compliance with change management processes.  They will interface with the Nuclear Operations Business, wider EDF business, direct partner organisations and 3rd parties supporting/supplying services to gather information evaluate requirements and to provision advice and guidance in support of applications services.

 

This role will be based at either our Gloucester or Glasgow office and you will be required to be in the office around 2 -3 days a week.

We offer a competitive salary within the range of £54,391 to £71,779 and terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Collective Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing

 

As a Software Engineer/Analyst you will carry out the following duties:

 

  • Implement Power Apps solutions following best practices for performance, scalability, and extensibility 
  • Experience of hands on development, canvas apps and model driven apps
  • Work closely with business teams to understand requirements and translate into technical solutions
  • Design and develop new SharePoint sites, pages, custom forms, automate, workflows, and applications
  • Utilize Power Automate to create workflows and automation between applications and data sources
  • Work within an agile framework and work tracking process
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest features and best practices for SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure
  • Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews


Who you are

 

For this position, you will have a relevant HNC such as Computing, Engineering or Science (or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.
 

Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of nuclear safety, license conditions, security regulation and compliance and how they apply to IT projects, products and services. You will understand the concept and requirements of an “Intelligent Customer” and have knowledge of the key business application and information management landscape, and an ability to understand how this is employed within Nuclear Operations.  A good working knowledge of central and station business operations within Generation would be ideal.
 

Your skillset will include excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at different levels across the company and excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to demonstrate a methodical approach with a focus on standards and attention to detail.
 

You will have extensive experience in IT/IT Support with a strong technical or process background and demonstrable experience in software development and/or business system support.  Experience of establishing and maintaining relationships in order to achieve support, understand constraints and work collaboratively to achieve business objectives. 
 

You will also have experience of employing modern software development methods with a good understanding of DevOps principles, substantial time working within a nuclear regulated environment with a good understanding of nuclear safety, security and regulatory requirements (preferred) and be capable of leading discussion on requirements/development, and delivering sound decisions, based upon consensus and the application of standards and best practise.
 

You will have experience of being able to possess and apply human performance tools and nuclear safety culture principles to enhance safe and reliable operation.

 

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for the last 5 years.
